Empower Together is a partnership project for the mobilization and education of the underprivileged in Cambodia. It brings together BrightStart’s well-established educational programs in Battambang, Cambodia with Mobility Worldwide’s mobility cart production processes. BrightStart and Mobility Worldwide are like-minded, committed partners, and this project is an exciting extension of both of our current ministries.
BrightStart will launch a vocational training center in Battambang, Cambodia with technical support from Mobility Worldwide. This project represents BrightStart's first opportunity to provide vocational training to the marginalized population in Battambang who are in desperate need of job skills. BrightStart will be able to offer relevant and certified vocational programs featuring metal fabrication and welding.
This project provides the means for Mobility Worldwide to expand their production and delivery of mobility carts to leg-disabled people in Southeast Asia. To date, Mobility Worldwide carts have changed over 100,000 lives in 104 developing countries, such as Kenya (pictured below).
There are many leg-disabled people living in every part of Cambodia. For some, it is due to circumstances such as road and land mine incidents, accidents, polio, stroke, and meningitis. For others, their permanent injuries are the result of the brutal Khmer Rouge regime, which was followed by another decade of civil war. The mobility carts we produce in Cambodia will be free of charge to all recipients, just as Mobility Worldwide has gifted recipients in other countries.
